INTRODUCTION
Adobe photoshop provides a large range of facilities by which image can be retouched and edited so that it can make improvement of pictures by many aspects. Now we will learn about some more features of photoshop such as copying images, transforming object, drawing tools, painting tools and type tools, etc.
COPYING IMAGE IN PHOTOSHOP
Many a times it is required to use the part of some image. Here's are the steps to copy images.
- Open the concerned image to some another location in same image using given steps.
- Select an area using marquee or the Lasso tool.
- Select the Move Tool from the tools panel.
- Press ALT key and drag the selected part with holded key. Selected part will be copied to another location.
You can copy the part of image by using the following steps.
- Open the image from where selected part has to be copied.
- Select a part of image using marquee or lasso Tool.
- Do copy using the EDIT > COPY command.
- Open the destination image file where the selected part has to be copied.
- Do paste using the Edit > Paste command.
An image can be transformed in Photoshop so that it may appear attractive. You can rotate, scale, skew, distort and apply a perspective to the image.
You should follow these steps to transform an object.
- Open an image where transformation has to be done. Select a part of image or whole image.
- Now give the command using Edit > Transformation menu option. Do any of the given points.
- ROTATE - You can rotate an image at the desired angle. for this, you will be needed to select the rotate option. Take the mouse over a corner handle, it will be converted into the shape of a curved two-sided arrow. Now you can rotate your image.
- SCALE - You can scale the image using Transformation > Scale sub menu option. the cursor becomes a double arrow pointer. and now you can scale your image. Press the Shift key as you drag a corner handle, if you want to scale the image proportionally.
- SKEW - You can skew the image using Transformation > Skew sub-menu option. drag a side handle to skew the image.
- DISTORT - You can distort an image using Transformation > distort sub-menu option . Drag a corner handle to stretch the image.
- PERSPECTIVE - You can apply a perspective to an image using Transformation > perspective sub-menu option. Drag a corner handle to apply a perspective to the image.
We are required to make rectangle, ellipse, polygon, line and custom shapes, etc. many times in a file for various purposes. Adobe photoshop have the drawing tools to create such shapes.
SHAPE TOOLS
Photoshop Shape Tool allow you to draw vector shape inside Photoshop. They are so good, you don’t have to switch its counterpart, Adobe Illustrator, to draw vector unless there is specific feature you need. This tutorial for beginner will show you how to use the shape tool from scratch.
- Select the desire shape tool from tools panel.
- Select the appropriate Fill colour, stroke colour, stroke width and stroke type in the context menu.
- Click and drag the mouse to draw the required shape.
- Select the custom shape tool from the tools panel.
- click on down arrow of shape on context menu. select the desired shape from appeared pop-up menu.
- click and drag the mouse to draw the selected shape.
- Open the image where brush has to be used.
- Select the Brush Tool and you can set the various related options of the brush from context menu such as brush size, mode, opacity and flow.
- Drag the mouse to do paint strokes.
- Click on the upper box or the lower box of the colour picker in the tools panel.
- The colour picker dialog box appears. Select the colour.
- Click on the OK button.
- Open image file where you have to use the gradient tool for gradient fill.
- Select the area of image where you have to use the gradient fill by using an selection tool.
- Select the gradient tool.
- Click on gradient sample box in the context menu. the gradient editor dialog box will be appeared.
- You can use a readymade gradient by selecting a preset gradient fill or you can create a new gradient fill in the gradient editor dialog box.
- Click on the OK button. now you have created or accessed a gradient fill to use.
- Select the desired gradient type in the context menu.
- Now take mouse over the selected area and place it where you want to set.
